Calceolaria is a genus of annuals, biennials, perennials, and shrubs. The shrubs and perennials tend to have sticky leaves with fine hairs. Their distinctive flowers have a pouch-like lower lip and a hood-like upper lip.

Flowers are usually yellow, but can be bronze or spotted with red. Generally blooms in the spring and through summer.
