Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Pink Double Delight') - Description
Echinacea purpurea 'Pink Double Delight' is a brand new coneflower with flowers that are similar to 'Razzmatazz', but has a shorter, more compact habit. A profusion of bright bubblegum pink, pompon-like, double flowers are produced on strong, well-branched stems from mid summer through early fall! The large 3 inch flowers are long-lasting, turning lavender pink as they age. Not only are the flowers beautiful, but the plant itself is an excellent grower with lovely deep green foliage. Also very drought tolerant once established. Echinacea purpurea 'Pink Double Delight' is a must have for any garden and we expect this will be one of the hottest new perennials for 2007!

Generally blooms over a long period of time throughout the summer and may continue until frost. Flowers are slightly fragrant. Deadhead to lengthen flowering period.

Coneflowers do well in the garden or in pots. The long stalks on which the flowers develop make these plants good candidates for cut-flowers. They perform very well in heat. Can tolerate minimal shade. Works well in a herbaceous border or open woodland.
