Erythronium revolutum is a species of flowering plant in the family Liliaceae which is known by several common names, including mahogany fawn lily, coast fawn lily, and pink fawn lily. The plant is found in moist places such as streambanks, bogs, and wet forest understory.

Erythroniums do well in partial or full shade, which is generally thought to prevent the bulbs from drying out. These little lilies are normally found under the canopy of the forest.

Seeds need a cold treatment before being sown to increase the probability of germination. Sow the seeds lightly as they will eventually fill in as the plants grow.

Mahogany Fawn Lily (Erythronium revolutum) - Interesting facts

The Trout Lily has many different common names including Adder's Tongue, Serpent's Tongue and Adder's Mouth. The species E. americanum is said to have "magical" healing properties. To heal a wound, it is said that one should soak the plant in cold water. Gently rub the cold, wet plant on the wound. Then bury the used plant in wet mud. Additionally, this plant is associated with femininity and the moon. The common name of Trout Lily is derived from the speckled colors of the plant's leaves, which is reminiscent of the scales of a trout.

Mahogany Fawn Lily (Erythronium revolutum) - Soil and irrigation

Erythroniums require rich, porous soil (much like what would be seen on the forest floor) and summer waterings for growing plants.
