Annual Mallow (Lavatera trimestris 'Beauty Mix') - Growth

Annuals, biennials, herbaceous, semi-evergreen, or evergreen perennials, and deciduous, semi-evergreen, or evergreen shrubs and subshrubs. Does best in full sun except for L. maritima, which needs partial to full shade. The tallest of these species can reach 10 ft. tall. Annuals, biennials, and short-lived perennials work best in a herbaceous border or summer bedding. Shrubs make nice additions to a shrub border. Less hardy shrubs can be grown against a sunny wall.

Annual Mallow (Lavatera trimestris 'Beauty Mix') - Planting

Some species are available as seeds and should be sown in the spring. Seeds of annuals should be sown directly into the ground in late spring. For biennials, sow seeds in a cold frame during the summer. Propagate perennials from softwood or greenwood cuttings in spring. Also conduct this method for shrubs and subshrubs in early summer. It is best to propagate on a regular basis, as shrubs and perennials are usually short-lived.
