Living Stone (Lithops hallii) - Description

Lithops hallii is a species in the genus Lithops. Lithops is a genus of dwarf, succulent perennials that are popular houseplants. They grow best in full sun and sharply draining soil with moderate fertility. Living Stones are easily propagated from the seed or cuttings. Some species bloom large, dominating flowers. Blooms are often sweetly scented.

There are around 40 known species in the genus Lithops, native to semi-desert regions in Namibia and South Africa. Lithops is practically stemless.Living stones have various adaptations that disguise them in their surroundings. One is that the leaves are not green, like most other plants, but are shades of cream, grey, and brown and often have patterned markings.
