Plectranthus verticillatus (Syn. Plectranthus nummularius (Briq.), Swedish ivy, Swedish Begonia or Whorled Plectranthus) is a plant in the family Lamiaceae (Labiatae), genus Plectranthus.

Blooms whorled flowers in terminal racemes usually in summer.

Swedish Ivy (Plectranthus verticillatus) - Growth

Annuals, evergreen perennials, semi-succulents, and shrubs. This plant likes lots of sun, but grows best when shaded from hot midday sun or in dappled shade. In sites with warmer climates, Plectranthus works well in a border. Less hardy plants make good container specimens and houseplants. Trailing species grow nicely in hanging baskets.

Sow seeds indoors 10 weeks before last frost at 65-75°F (18-24°C). Transplant after frost and temperatures are above 45F. Easily root from cuttings any time of year.

Swedish Ivy (Plectranthus verticillatus) - Pest

Mealybugs and spider mites. Other issues include leaf spots and root rot.

Swedish Ivy (Plectranthus verticillatus) - Soil and irrigation

Plant in containers in mineral-based potting soil. Otherwise plant in rich, well-drained soil. Water freely during the growing season, and keep moist during winter.
