Kafir Lily (Clivia miniata) - Description
C. miniata is native to South Africa. This plant bears brilliant, large clusters of funnel-shaped orange flowers, which appear above dense clumps or dark green evergreen leaves.

Orange, red, pink, or yellow flowers are produced. Bloom periods depend on species. Some bloom from spring to fall, others from spring to summer or from winter to spring. Restrict root run to promote flowering.

Evergreen perennials. The stalks of the Clivia will grow to be 2 ft. tall. Clivias will start getting damaged at 32°F/0°C, but will survive up to temperatures of 25°F/-4°C. Does best in partial shade. In areas where Clivia does not grow hardy, raise plants indoors as houseplants or in a warm greenhouse. A warm greenhouse has a minimum temperature of 55°F (13°C). During the day, temperatures should be set to 55-64°F (13-18°C) or above, and at night, the temperature should be at 55°F (13°C). In areas with hot climates, grow Clivia in a border or bed.
