Blooms fragrant white, yellow, orange-red flowers from summer to fall. Followed by capsular fruits.

White Ginger Lily (Hedychium coronarium) - Growth

Ginger lilies grow best with sun or partial shade, or bright indirect light, with moderate to high humidity. Shelter outdoor plants from the wind. It is best to grow marginally hardy ginger lilies against a warm wall. Also, provide these plants with a deep winter mulch. Grow ginger lilies in groups next to still water for the best results. They also work well in mixed or herbaceous borders. Ginger lilies must be divided often as they tend to be vigorous growers. In areas where Hedychium is not growing hardy, raise plants indoors in large containers in a warm greenhouse and move outdoors during the summer. A warm greenhouse has a minimum temperature of 55ºF (13ºC). During the day, temperatures should be set to 55-64ºF (13-18ºC) or above, and at night, the temperature should be at 55ºF (13ºC). Marginally hardy species can be grown in a cool greenhouse with a minimum temperature of 35ºF (2ºC). During the day, set temperatures between 41-50ºF (5-10ºC), and at night, keep the temperature at 36ºF (2ºC).
