Fernleaf Peony (Paeonia tenuifolia 'Early Scout') - Description

An historical Peony, as it was brought west on covered wagons in the 1800's by settlers wanting to beautify their new homesteads. In late spring, dark red, single flowers sit atop sturdy stems with attractive, dissected leaves. The foliage remains attractive throughout the season, thus making it an excellent landscape plant. Peony 'Early Scout' is a gold medal winner by the American Peony Society. The Fernleaf varieties may be a little harder to find, and are usually more expensive due to their difficulty in propagating new plants.
