Annuals, evergreen perennials, semi-succulents, and shrubs. This plant likes lots of sun, but grows best when shaded from hot midday sun or in dappled shade. Mealybugs and spider mites. Other issues include leaf spots and root rot.

Plant in containers in mineral-based potting soil. Otherwise plant in rich, well-drained soil. Water freely during the growing season, and keep moist during winter.
