Aesculus indica is a species in the genus Aesculus. There are 20+ species in the genus Aesculus and a 1/3 to 1/2 are native to North America. Buckeyes are woody shrubs or trees, the height of which varies among the species from 6' to 10' for the Bottlebrush Buckeye to 50-70' for the Yellow Buckeye. They often have large, abundant and showy flowers in the spring. The palmate leaves are divided fanwise into large, toothed leaflets
