Meadowsweet (Filipendula x 'Kakome') - Description
This dwarf pink meadowsweet thrives in wet soils and is idea along streams or ponds and will grow in all but dry, arid soils. Flowers rise above dark green, fern-like foliage. Rich, moist to wet soil. Fluffy, airy, rosy-pink flowers top stems that rise above foliage. Good for waterside or woodland gardens or for cutting. Provide this meadowsweet with partial shade in the warmer, southern climates.

Deadheading will not promote coninuted blooming, so it is best to leave panicles on the plant.

In hot climates, grow in partial shade, otherwise partial shade to full sun is good.

Divide clumps in spring or fall; take root cutting in late winter or early spring, or sow seeds. Plant 1' apart and mulch around (but not within 3") of the new plants. Water until completely moist.

Filipendula was once considered part of the Spiraea genus, from which aspirin gets its name. So it isn't suprising that some species of Filipendula have been used in herbal medicine and that some contain Salicin, which is an ingredient in aspirin.
Meadowsweet (Filipendula x 'Kakome') - Soil and irrigation
Grow in average to rich soil that is moist but well drained. Some species may prefer boggy soil. With continued moisture, foliage will remain attractive throught the growing season.
