Common Sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Indian Blanket Hybrid') - Description
Great for cutting, these hybrid sunflowers won't shed on tabletops. This festively tinted bicolor is great for cutting as it has twice the flower power of other sunflowers with a double ring of large outer petals. Many flowers also display fluffy petals on the inner disc, making them almost semi-double. A rich red blush covers all but the clear lemon yellow tips of the petals. Flowers are 4" across on plants that branch liberally and get to 4'-5' tall.

Flowers bloom in the summer, but be aware that many cultivars will not come true from seeds.

Grow in sunny, open areas. Plant in drifts at the back corners and along fences. You should make sure tall varieties are sheltered from the wind or they may even need staking. They will tolerate heat, but frost will kill them.
