Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Burpee Bibb') - Description

'Burpee Bibb's' soft heads are creamy yellow inside. The sweetest Bibb lettuce ever! The tender, dark green outer leaves are tinged with brown. Plant this varietal early in spring and repeat every two weeks into fall. During hot spells protect your plants from heat with shade cloth. This lettuce likes fertile, well draining soil and ample water. Space lettuce plants 8" apart if transplanting or thin to this spacing if sowing the seeds outdoors. This will take about 75 days until it is ready for harvest.

Unless you are allowing the lettuce plants to set seed for seed harvesting, you should not allow the plants to flower. Blooms dense clusters of small yellow flowers.
