Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Salad Bowl') - Description

Lettuce Salad Bowl features crisp, tender, deeply lobed, green leaves with a sweet flavor. Slow to bolt, non-heading. This All-America winner grows best in cool weather, but is slow to bolt and is non-heading even in warmer climates. When thinning out your beds make delicious extra-early salads from the baby greens. Start successive plantings every two weeks or so to extend period of harvest. This lettuce is ready to harvest around 45 days after sowing seeds.

Unless you are allowing the lettuce plants to set seed for seed harvesting, you should not allow the plants to flower. Blooms dense clusters of small yellow flowers.
