Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Warpath') - Description
A cross between a crisphead and a cos lettuce; combining the best qualities of both. Crunchy inner leaves form a small head, surrounded with handsome wrapper leaves. Lettuce grows best in cool weather. When thinning out your beds make delicious extra-early salads from the baby greens. Make successive plantings every two weeks or so to extend period of harvest. In dry weather, keep soil moist to delay onset of bolting. This is one of the more heat tolerant varietals out there, but keep the soil moist late in the season. This little lettuce should be ready for harvest in about 75 days, earlier if you are looking to harvest the baby greens.

Unless you are allowing the lettuce plants to set seed for seed harvesting, you should not allow the plants to flower. Blooms dense clusters of small yellow flowers.
