Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Winter Red') - Description
This hardy red-tipped Romaine is both cold and heat tolerant. The inner leaves are pale green and mild flavored. Lettuce grows best in cool weather. When thinning out your beds it makes delicious extra-early salads from the baby greens. Make successive plantings every two weeks or so to extend period of harvest. In dry weather, keep soil moist to delay onset of bolting. 'Rogue d'hiver' is ready for harvest in about 60 days from sowing seeds.

Unless you are allowing the lettuce plants to set seed for seed harvesting, you should not allow the plants to flower. Blooms dense clusters of small yellow flowers.
