Iris (Iris x 'Batik') - Description
Stars of the late spring perennial garden! Bearded Iris are delightful and showy in May and June, by themselves or in a mixed perennial border. Some have a sweet fragrance - plant them where they can be truly appreciated. They are easy to grow but cannot tolerate wet feet, so be sure the soil is well drained. They prefer full sun, but will bloom if they get sun for at least half the day. When planting, set rhizomes so the soil barely covers the top - do not plant too deeply.

All bear flowers with 6 petals. Three, called standards, point up or out. And three, called falls, point out or down. Generally flowers are borne in small clusters and buds open in succession along the stalk.
