Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Four Seasons') - Description

The name alludes to the remarkable cold hardiness of this very beautiful 6" butterhead lettuce. It's still one of the best lettuces, both for early spring planting and for fall/winter harvests. Outer leaves are tinged with red, while the inner leaves are creamy yellow. Harvest this butterhead in about 60 days from the point of sowing the seeds.

Unless you are allowing the lettuce plants to set seed for seed harvesting, you should not allow the plants to flower. Blooms dense clusters of small yellow flowers.
