Crinum asiaticum can be found in China, Hong Kong, Jeju-do in South Korea, India, Ryukyu Islands, Mainland Japan and in Sri Lanka. Crinum pedunculatum is considered by some sources to be a variety of this species.

Thrives with full sun exposure. Keep out of freezing temperatures that will kill the foliage. Grow Crinum in any warm, sheltered site. Crinum species are drought tolerant, making them suitable for xeriscapes.Where Crinum is not hardy, raise plants indoors in a temperate or warm greenhouse.

Propagate from the seed as soon as ripe at 70ºF (21ºC). Also propagate via offsets removed from dug up clumps in spring. Take offsets from the parent bulb and plant in pots or directly into the ground. Make sure the neck of the bulb is just above soil level.

There are around 130 known species in the genus Crinum, native to streamsides and lake margins across all tropical regions and also in South Africa.Any part of the plant is toxic when ingested. Crinum also produces sap that is known to irritate the skin upon contact.The leaves of C. asiaticum are quite large and can way up to 20 lbs!
