Veitch's Peony (Paeonia veitchii) - Description
Paeonia veitchii, or Veitch's peony, is native to a wide range of altitudes in central China. It's one of the shorter Paeonia, with a raspberry-magenta flower and fine foliage.

Large, bright flowers in a range of colors followed by pod-like fruits containing sometimes black or red seeds. Herbaceous Peonies bloom best when they have a sufficient winter chill. Although they can survive intense heat in the summer, the flowers will not last as long if temperatures get too hot.
