Ranging in size depending on species, it can get as tall as 25 ft. in tropical zones and in full sun or partial shade.

Sow seeds in spring. Maintain moderate temperatures for the germinating seeds (64-75°F/18-24°C). If propagating by cuttings, do so in the summer and provide bottom heat.

Sennas have been used as purgatives for centuries. They have compounds in them that are similar to that of other plants that induce bowel movements. Additionally, the leaves and flowers are used in some cuisines either as fresh or pickled. Previously included in the Cassia genus and still often sold as such.
