Spiderworts are woodland flowers native to the Americas. Leaves are long, thin and blade-like and flowers are most often bright blue.

Although most members of this genus are grown for their colorful foliage, some do have blue or pink flowers. The flowers are short-lived. Lengthen flowering by cutting back flowered stems.

Evergreen perennials. Known for being nearly indestructible plants. They grow with trailing stems and do well as potted plants but suffices as a ground cover in climates that permit it.
