Meadow-Grass (Poa chaixii) - Description
Poa chaixii (Broad-leaved Meadow-grass, Broadleaf Bluegrass) is a species of perennial grass native to Europe and temperate Asia. Its culms are erect or ascending, ranging from 60–120 centimetres (24–47 in) long, with leaf-blades flat or conduplicate, from 15–45 centimetres (5. 9–18 in) long by 5–10 millimetres (0. 20–0. 39 in) wide.

Grows best in full sun or partial shade.

Lawns are easiest to seed in early spring or fall, when temperatures are cooler. For ornamental grasses, sow in containers in a cold frame in spring or fall, and divide in spring and early summer.

Believe it or not, Kentucky Blue Grass is not native to Kentucky or anywhere in North America. It is native to Europe. It is thought that early colonists brought Kentucky Blue Grass to North America unintentionally in seed bags of other grass species. Strangely enough, this tough turf grass out-competed all the others to become the most common grass in the US!
