Maliner Kren, True Bohemian horseradish, the standard variety for condiment use. Excellent variety for making your own ground horseradish. Fresh horseradish is infinitely tangier and tastier than store-bought and well worth the effort to make your own! A winter-hardy perennial herb. Vigorous plants produce large white roots for use in late fall or winter.

Blooms cruciform, 4-petaled flowers in white in large racemes or panicles from late spring to late summer. Borne on leafy stems.

Side root cuttings about 8-14 inches long and quarter inch thick are set aside when the root is harvested and kept in a moist, cool place until spring. Rows are 18" apart, plants are 2 feet apart within rows. The side root cuttings are placed lengthwise in 3-5 inch deep furrows and covered with soil except the top portion.If you wish to contain the roots from spreading too far plant in a bucket, sunk underground, with the bottom of the bucket removed. If planting in rows space roots 18" apart.In milder climates without fear of frost in the winter, the roots can be planted in fall.
